1. Digital Leaders: Defining a Kodak Culture for the Future
Kodak has undergone a profound cultural transformation orchestrated by Kodak CEO Jim Continenza. Taking the reins as executive chairman in 2019, Continenza pursued the redefinition of Kodak’s identity and resurgence.
This mission entailed fundamental shifts, consolidating divisions, and repositioning Kodak as an industrial B2B manufacturer.
By empowering frontline employees, prioritizing customer orientation, and overhauling leadership, the company underwent a startup-like cultural shift, fostering risk-taking and innovation.
Continenza’s collective leadership approach, highlighting the role of vision, cultural adaptation, and customer focus, is rejuvenating the company.

2. Case Study: Digital Transformation at IKEA – Reinventing a Legacy
IKEA, a household name in home goods for almost 80 years, has undergone a significant digital transformation led by Barbara Martin Coppola, a veteran from Google, Samsung, and Texas Instruments.
This transformation included e-commerce sales which have tripled over a three-year period. Physical stores have been revamped to double as fulfillment centers, altering their flow of goods, supply mechanisms, and layouts.
The Digital Transformation Include:
- A Focus on People and Data
- Learning from Tech Giants
- Incorporating New Technologies
- Supporting Workers in a Digital Age
IKEA showed that digital transformation isn’t just about technology. It’s about reshaping business operations, customer interactions, and decision-making processes. Changing yet staying the same – the essence of the transformation lies in balancing innovation with the brand’s legacy. While IKEA seeks to reinvent itself, its core DNA remains intact, upholding the company’s culture, values, and vision.
