DigitalRosh CONNECT: 02-Apr-2023 (Y23W14)

Within a few days, we will celebrate Passover, the holiday of Freedom. This name bears a very concrete meaning these days, while the liberal part of Israel fights for democracy, human rights, equality, and freedom.

One of the prominent protest leaders is Dr. Shikma Bressler who replaced her particle physics lab at the Weizmann Institute with a mission at a national level. In recognition of Dr. Shikma Bressler’s brave leadership, she is our Person of the Week. We bring you “the particle symphony,” a video Shikma created to explain, in a unique way, what particle physics is.

DigitalRosh CONNECT is going on spring break and will not be published in the next 2 weeks.

As an alternative to our weekly newsletter, we invite you to check out the “AGI fundamentals for Business” course (DLC518). This self-learning course is constantly updated to keep up with the developments and to bring new angles to the subject.

Wishing you all a Happy Passover and a Joyful Easter for better days,

Prof. Yesha Sivan, Founder, and CEO
& the DigitalRosh team

Additionally, it offers guidance on how treasurers can protect data and the bottom line.

The EU Digital Strategy: The Impact of Data Privacy on Global Business (McKinsey)

The EU has implemented a new digital strategy that seeks to create a fair and contestable market for data, increase trust, and protect user rights.

McKinsey suggests three steps for organizations to navigate this landscape, including aligning with the regulatory process and understanding the opportunities and challenges that come with the new regulations.

These regulations include:

  • Reducing the power of existing incumbents
  • Granting users more rights when it comes to AI.

Organizations should be aware of the potential benefits of the new regulations, such as data portability and reduction of gatekeeper platforms, and the potential challenges that come with increased user rights.

Why Digital Ability Trumps IQ? (MITSloan)

Procter & Gamble (P&G) wanted to achieve digital transformation across its brands, so they assessed the digital marketing ability of its managers.

To do this, they created performance metrics by identifying employee role attributes and dashboards to track and improve metrics and address gaps.

The company identified five attributes that define the digital marketing ability of the company’s brand and business managers, centered around the customer’s digital journey from discovery to loyalty.

This article emphasizes the importance of assessing the digital marketing ability of leaders, as well as raising the digital IQ of the workforce. Doing so will help identify and activate pockets of strength in digital ability and isolate and remediate pockets of weakness, driving up sales, profit margins, and cash flow.

IoC Detection Experiments with ChatGPT (Geri Mendelsohn)

Kaspersky recently experimented with using ChatGPT for IoC detection.

Initially, the chatbot was successful in understanding file names and paths, but not as much when it came to hashes and APTs domains. To automate the process, the chatbot was asked to develop a script that would extract paths from an Autorun on a remote computer and check if they are IOCs and potentially malicious.

A package of scripts was developed which looks at autoruns, processes, and services, running PowerShell and creating certain event logs, which achieved detection with few false positives. While it is still not perfect, it can drastically reduce the work time of a human researcher and has a lot of potential.

Person of the Week: Dr. Shikma Bressler, Physicist, Weitzmann Institute of Science

Dr. Shikma Schwartzman-Bressler is an Israeli physicist and researcher at the Weizmann Institute of Science. She is a member of the ATLAS collaboration, taking part in the research at the CERN particle accelerator in Switzerland. Her research deals with gathering data from the atlas detector in search of physics beyond the standard model of particle physics.

Dr. Bressler is an example of Israeli female leadership. In March 2020, she founded and led the “Black Flag Protests” in Israel, demanding, among other things, that a person indicted on criminal charges would not be able to run for Prime Minister. The Black Flag Protests spread all across Israel and have recently increased due to the attempts of the Israeli ruling coalition to legislate a judicial revolution and de-facto erasing the separation of powers in Israel.

On March 23, 2023, Dr. Bressler was detained by the police during a protest, refusing to let go of the flag even as she was pushed into a police car.

While all of us hope for a brighter and more democratic future for Israel, we chose to bring you “A Symphony of Particles” – where Dr. Bressler explains the particles that make up the universe, accompanied by a symphony orchestra.
