1. Big Tech: Meta and Microsoft Launch Llama 2
On July 18th 2023, Meta and Microsoft joined forces to release Llama 2, a next-generation large language AI model for commercial and research purposes.
Llama 2 comes in pre-trained and conversation-oriented versions and is freely available.
Microsoft offers Llama2 through Azure AI catalog, and it can run on Windows PCs and other providers like Amazon Web Services and Hugging Face. Llama 2 allows companies to customize the technology for their purposes while enabling external checks for biases and flaws.
Microsoft sees this collaboration as a way to stay competitive against rivals like Google in the AI space.

Google Arts & Culture unveils “Inside a Genius Mind” — the largest online retrospective dedicated to the genius of the Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci.
Da Vinci’s world of codices is presented interactively with curated experiments powered by Machine Learning. 3D models bring to life the inventions straight out of da Vinci’s sketches.
With Street View, you can step into the places that marked the stages of Leonardo’s life: from his hometown, Vinci, to the Sforza Castle which he decorated in Milan, continuing over to France in the Loire at Chateau d’Amboise.
