What is digital transformation and who needs it?

The essence of digital transformation is building an increasing ability of the organization to utilize the digital for the benefit of its goals. Digital transformation is a deep process of examining and adapting the business model, the work processes, and the organizational culture, to the strategy of development and innovation. It is a circular and continuous process that relates to the development of technology and the competitive environment. Its purpose is to lead to solving problems, creating new business opportunities, and creating competitive differentiation, while at the same time generating the ability to harness the digital power of the organization to deal with possible futures.

In order to lead a digital transformation in the organization, we must have a deep understanding of:

  • The business and the field in which it is operates
  • The digital technologies and the possible business models
  • Change processes in the organization (including aspects of culture and leadership)
  • Recognition of counseling processes (which is a discipline itself)

Which organizations are required for digital transformation?

In fact, any organization or unit within an organization that was created before digital power became central to our personal and business lives (such as banks, insurance companies, service providers, industry, defense, government, municipal authorities, and more) Required for a digital transformation process. Adopting technologies by the organization and using them in its current activities is not sufficient if the process is not assimilated among all the employees of the organization and does not include all the components of the organization and its activities.

What does a digital transformation consultant do?

What is the difference between an internal and an external consultant?

The internal consultation is done by a senior manager of the organization, who is familiar with the digital world. A manager who is able to harness the management and lead the internal organizational process. The external consultation is done by an expert in digital transformation management who was invited by the organization to help manage the process. The choice between internal and external consulting will be made according to the nature of the organization, the management team, the organizational culture, and also according to technical matters such as the type of organization and its communication methods.
