Dr. Aya Soffer, VP of AI technologies at IBM Research was the guest speaker of DigitalRosh LIVE on 14 March 2023. with a lecture named AGI – Are We There Yet? First Aya introduced IBM – a hybrid cloud and AI company and detailed its 7 focus areas. Aya explained the evolution of AI and why we mostly see broad AI tech currently.
Aya taught us about foundation models and how they’re being used in the industry and why they are most impactful on NLP applications. She explained how the foundation models create new opportunities by being applicable for broad use.
At the end of the lecture, Aya explained what should be the next steps toward AGI and neuro-symbolic AI, and why they are harder to create. Aya concluded with a few lessons for digital leaders.
