Julie Sweet : Accenture Invests $3 Billion in Generative AI to Revolutionize Industries

Accenture has committed to investing $3 billion over the next three years in advancing its expertise in generative AI. This initiative includes doubling the size of its Data and AI practice, expanding it to around ten percent of the total workforce, and launching a Center for Advanced AI along with AI Accelerators across 19 industry verticals. The goal is to leverage generative AI, which is expected to transform 40% of all working hours in the next decade, to create industry-specific solutions for clients and drive innovation responsibly and rapidly.

Accenture’s CEO, Julie Sweet, shared insights at Salesforce’s AI Day event in New York, where she discussed the firm’s efforts in advising clients on generative AI adoption. Accenture recently partnered with Salesforce to establish an accelerator hub for generative AI, focusing on customized AI strategies, innovative use cases, industry-specific AI models, and upskilling initiatives. Sweet emphasized the importance of trust and security in the early stages of generative AI adoption, highlighting Salesforce’s commitment to building these elements into their solutions.

Accenture views AI in three dimensions: helping clients, delivering for clients, and operating internally. They have successfully integrated predictive AI into their sales function through Salesforce and are now excited about adding generative AI to accelerate insights and connections. Sweet stressed the importance of change management and skilling to ensure technology adoption within organizations. She also emphasized the necessity of understanding and mitigating risks associated with AI, calling for clear accountability and responsible AI practices.
