1. Article: 6 Blind Spots Tech Leaders Must Reveal
(Source: C-suite Study Series Tech Leaders IBM)
The IBM report titled “2024 Technology Leader Study: 6 Blind Spots Tech Leaders Must Reveal” highlights critical areas where technology leaders need to improve to leverage the potential of generative AI and drive organizational success. It identifies six blind spots that hinder tech leaders from fully integrating technology into strategic decision-making:
- Viewing technology merely as an enabler rather than a core component of business.
- Having superficial collaboration with finance which limits the integration of tech metrics into business cases.
- Over-reliance on generative AI without addressing underlying infrastructure concerns.
- Failing to implement responsible AI practices, risking trust and transparency.
- Treating data as an asset while paying attention to its quality and security which can become a liability.
- Underestimating the need for talent development and adaptation in the face of evolving technology demands.
The report calls for tech leaders to engage in honest discussions about these issues to drive innovation and ensure their organizations can effectively leverage AI technologies for growth and success.

2. Case Study: How three companies are using AI to accelerate breakthroughs and empower innovation
(Source: Work lab, Microsoft)
In 2024, generative AI is making significant strides, with a dramatic increase in adoption among organizations.
McKinsey & Company reports that 65% of organizations now regularly use generative AI, which has nearly doubled in just 10 months.
Additionally, the use of AI across multiple business functions has surged from 33% in 2023 to 50% this year. Businesses are benefiting from substantial cost savings and revenue increases, particularly in HR, supply chain, marketing, and sales.
Microsoft has observed a similar trend among its customers, with a 60% increase in Copilot for Microsoft 365 users and more companies moving from experimentation to large-scale implementation. Notable examples include:
- Amgen: By integrating Copilot, Amgen expanded its use from 300 to 20,000 licenses, enhancing productivity, streamlining processes, and boosting innovation in its biotechnology operations.
- Cognizant: Copilot has led to a 10% reduction in time spent on emails, a 27% increase in early meeting departures, and a 73% boost in document creation, allowing employees to focus more on high-value tasks.
- Teladoc Health: Copilot has transformed Teladoc’s internal processes, cutting ticket resolution times from days to hours and saving significant operational hours by automating workflows and improving efficiency.
Overall, generative AI is poised to redefine work, driving productivity and innovation across industries.

3. Review: This Wearable AI Notetaker Will Transcribe Your Meetings—and Someday, Your Entire Life
(Source: Wired)
Plaud’s AI-powered NotePin is a wearable device designed to be worn in multiple ways (necklace, wristwatch, pin) to record, transcribe, and summarize conversations, aiming to assist users in managing their meetings and daily interactions.
Priced at $169, it offers features like speaker identification and a monthly audio recording limit, with an option for a pro plan.
While the device targets productivity enthusiasts, it faces skepticism due to past failures of similar AI wearables and concerns about accuracy and security.
Plaud envisions a future where such devices could help create digital twins of users by continuously learning from their interactions, though experts warn of potential drawbacks in human development.
The article raises significant concerns regarding accuracy and privacy. AI transcription services can misinterpret conversations, especially with accents, leading to potential misunderstandings.
There are also security risks, as the device itself isn’t encrypted, meaning lost or stolen NotePins could expose sensitive data. Additionally, there’s philosophical unease about relying heavily on AI, as it might diminish human capabilities like memory and social interactions.
These issues highlight the challenges Plaud faces in gaining user trust and adoption.

4. Report: Navigating Beyond The Hype: The Metaverse, take 2
(Source: EY)
EY article portrays the metaverse as evolving from initial hype to practical applications across industrial, social, and enterprise sectors.
Despite the waning hype, the metaverse remains relevant through early-stage adoption in specific industries. The term “metaverse” once sparked widespread excitement, envisioning an interconnected digital utopia.
The metaverse is now viewed as a collection of technologies enabling distinctively enhanced digital experiences rather than a singular virtual world. This pragmatic approach categorizes the metaverse into industrial, social, and enterprise sectors, each leveraging immersive technologies for specific purposes.
Industrial applications include digital twins for simulating complex systems, while social uses extend to multiplayer online gaming and immersive social media. In the enterprise sector, companies are adopting immersive technologies to boost productivity, customer engagement, and training platforms.
Despite technological and privacy challenges, the continued investment and advancements in enabling technologies signal a promising future for the metaverse, mirroring the early internet’s trajectory of initial exuberance followed by recalibration and gradual adoption.
