On the 2nd session of the LIVE series “Seeking Digital Hights with AGI” we met Tera AllasDirector of Research and Economics at McKinsey. Tera’s lecture revolved around the way technology is affecting productivity and the potential AGI has at increasing productivity. In the first part of the lecture, Tera explored data regarding global productivity and mostly how it’s reflected in European countries. In the second part, we took a deeper dive into the Israeli market, we discussed its productivity data and the ways we can improve it. Tera concluded her lecture with a few takeaways for digital leaders. After the lecture, there was an open discussion where the participants were able to ask their questions.

Part I – Tera Allas

Tera AllasDirector of Research and Economics at McKinsey, presented in her lecture data collected for over 50 years regarding global productivity and the way its been affected by new technologies. Tera drow a line between prosperity to human capital and marks investments in human capital as the key saying productivity drives prosperity, innovation drives productivity, technology drives innovation, and human capital drives technology. Next, Tera focused on the Israeli market and the significant discrepancy between its high overall GDP and its actual nominal GDP. Tera explained the concept of 2 different economies existing in Israel and how they’re affecting this discrepancy. Tera concluded with a few take aways for digital leaders. 

Part II – Open Discussion

In the second part of the LIVE the participants brought up different questions including: how can government changes affect a country’s economy and productivity? how can we improve productivity in Israel? how do we define uncertainty and why is it rising? how to invest in human capital and why is it important? what is the impact of societies within a country that aren’t interested in progress on the country’s productivity? What is Mckinsey’s current outlook on the world economy? and many more.
Tera was joined by Eyal Hashkes, from McKinsey, who helped answer some of these questions from his point of view.
