We tend to be very good at overestimating what can happen in a year and underestimating what can happen in a decade. The podcast Faces of Digital Health brings Mark Cotcchia (Innovation, Technology Commercialization, and Venture Development Leader at Baptist Health Innovations) Insights and predictions about the healthcare systems in the us in 2033, from the last mHealth Israel Conference in Tel Aviv,
His 7 predictions are:
- Interactions will be enabled by digital technologies but still mediated, guided, and led by humans.
- Personalized medicine will be commonplace.
- Patients will be engaged and will demand customized experiences. Patients will finally have control over their health information.
- The hub will be the super specialty center.
- The culture will be more empathetic.
- We’ll see advances stemming from (1) automation, (2) better deployment of nurses, and (3) better use of i.t. professionals.
- We’ll see positive results when it comes to preventive medicine and wellness. Systems will keep more patients healthy and out of the hospital.
