Women in the Workplace 2022 study is the largest on the state of women in corporate America. It gives companies insights and tools to advance gender diversity in the workplace.
LeanIn.Org and McKinsey & Company launched the study in 2015. Between 2015 and 2022, over 810 companies participated in the study, and more than 400,000 people were surveyed on their workplace experiences. The 2022 report focuses on how the pandemic has changed what women want from their companies, including the growing importance of opportunity, flexibility, employee well-being, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The issues covered include:
- The state of the pipeline: underrepresented in leadership and in tech; the “broken rung” holding women back, and more.
- Why women leaders are switching jobs: under-recognized; seeking a different culture of work; black women leaders face barriers, and more.
- An intersectional look at women’s experience about bias and support
- The importance of flexible and remote work including a case study of Blue Shield of California shift to hybrid work
- The importance of managers
- Recommendations for companies
