On the 5th and the concluding session of the LIVE series “Weaving Digital” we meet Elior Zoaretz, Deputy CEO and Head of Business Dev & Innovation at Harel Insurance and Finance. Elior introduced Harel, the largest insurance group in Israel and elaborated on their challenges and plans in the rapidly changing ecosystem. A Q&A session followed the key lecture and this week’s CONNECT newsletter video was introduced.
Part I – Elior Zoaretz
Elior Zoaretz, Deputy CEO and Head of Business Dev & Innovation, presented Harel, with 3.5M customers and 5K employees, and talked about bringing this large traditional organization to the next generation by promoting innovation and creativity. Elior emphasized the importance of the human factor in the process and cooperating with startups for new tech in the InsurTech ecosystem. He explained some of the new digital business models like embedded insurance, but emphasized that the digital journey is not full in most of the insurance products and clients expect to talk with a human agent somewhere along the road.
Part II – Open Discussion
Participants brought questions about the “dying” profession of the mythological insurance agent (which turned out to be false). Elior answered questions about regulation, the complicated language of insurance policies, as well as about the technological side. The idea, said Elior, is in building a comprehensive system with people and tech.
