Microsoft is launching a new premium version of its Teams app, which will use OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, to automate note-taking and task recommendation during meetings.
Teams premium will cost $7 a month from June, rising to $10 a month in July. The product will feature Microsoft Teams’ all-in-one collaborative experience, incorporating OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 language model to create more personalized and protected meetings. ChatGPT will generate sections, titles and descriptions in meeting recordings, along with “personalised timeline markers”, which will show the speaker’s timeline, who spoke, and when. Teams premium will also include live translations, a wider range of templates, branding options, and Microsoft Purview Information Protection sensitivity labels.
OpenAI is also launching its own premium plan, ChatGPT Plus, which will offer faster response times, priority access to new features, and access during peak times. It will cost $20 a month, initially only available to US-based customers, with a wider rollout planned in the future. The ChatGPT API will be made available to third-party developers. A recent study by UBS reported that ChatGPT reached 100 million monthly active users in January, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history, according to Reuters.
