Yossi Matias talks about who is, the journey he’s been on establishing his own leadership style, curiosity and impact he makes on the world
Matias is Vice President, Engineering & Research, at Google, advancing AI to help transform healthcare, conversational AI, and the climate crisis. He is the global lead of Google’s Health AI, Google’s Crisis Response and Climate Crises AI initiatives, and pioneered Conversational AI technologies.
Previously Matias was on Google’s Search leadership for over a decade. Matias established Google’s center in Israel and grew it to over 2500 workers, oversaw Google’s site in Bangalore, India through its 4-fold growth, and oversees Google’s expanding Research center in Africa. He is a founding lead of Google’s AI for Social Good and of Google for Startup Accelerator. He is on the CS faculty of TAU with over 100 published papers and the inventor of over 60 patents. He was previously a Research Scientist at Bell Labs, a visiting professor at Stanford, and an entrepreneur. Among his recognitions, he is a recipient of the Godel Prize and the ACM Kanellakis Theory and Practice Award for seminal work on large-scale data analytics.
