Prof. Neri Oxman (MIT) uses computational design, digital manufacturing, materials science and synthetic biology to explore building design options, developing algorithms for producing patterns based on patterns in nature and developing new production processes with the aim of learning from nature and integrating with it and making construction and production processes sustainable.
Prof. Oxman leads the Mediated Matter group at MIT whose projects include wearable clothing inspired by contemporary and future environments, biodegradable designs powered by the sun, new artistic techniques, and experimental surfaces to achieve innovative structural strength using nature.
In the lecture Prof. Osman presents her worldview and the projects she leads with her research group. Innovative, surprising and thought-provoking.
