StuffThatWorks is a platform designed to help everyone learn which treatments are most suitable for their medical condition, using AI-based “crowd wisdom”.
Many of those dealing with a chronic medical condition spend hours on the Internet searching for better treatments because they feel that no one has properly researched what treatments will work best for them. And it’s true: most medical research is done on very small groups of people and the treatments offered are far from being individually tailored.
The innovative platform uses “crowdsourcing” and depends on the responding community, women and people who share their experience through an organized survey. The collected data is normalized, goes through an anonymization process, and is analyzed by advanced machine learning algorithms that look for valuable insights for the community and individuals. The insights are shared with the community where you can respond, discuss and even present new research questions.
This is a journey that can only succeed with the participation of a large population and the creators of the platform invite women and private individuals, patient support groups and researchers to join and contribute knowledge, experience and insights to improve its effectiveness.
Thanks to community member and mentor Ofra Gordon, a business development specialist in the healthcare field, for introducing me to the special platform.
