DigitalRosh CONNECT: 19-Feb-2023 (Y23W08)

Y23W08

This week we bring you learning, healthcare, marketing, and The SDG Compass. Last but not least we celebrate DigitalRosh 3rd Anniversary:

  • Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) has the potential to impact multiple industries, including education and learning. While some believe that it may cause students to rely on AI instead of practicing basic skills, others like Anne Lee Skites from a16z argue that the self-determination theory suggests that humans will continue to learn regardless of AGI shortcuts.
  • In healthcare, the full potential of AI can only be reached if medical students are taught about its shortcomings, including biases, privacy concerns, and the algorithms’ lack of understanding.
  • These and other items on sustainable development, hiring the right talent for digital transformation, and up-to-date marketing strategies are available in our CONNECT newsletter this week.
  • On February 20, DigitalRosh celebrates its third birthday, and on this occasion, we have prepared special gifts 🎁 for our readers and members.

Wishing you all an enlightening learning,

Prof. Yesha Sivan, Founder, and CEO
& DigitalRosh team

Five Predictions for the Future of Learning in the Age of AI

ChatGPT’s technology has the potential to impact education and learning in many ways, both positive and negative.

On the one hand, students can use it to cheat on papers and essays, while teachers can outsource their curriculums to AI. On the other hand, many believe that ChatGPT will cause students to stop learning basic skills and forget general facts.

However, Anne Lee Skates of Andreessen Horowitz argues that humans are driven by autonomy, relatedness, and competence and will continue to learn regardless of shortcuts.

Skates explored five predictions for AI and the future of education, including:

  • Democratization of one-on-one support

  • Personalized learning

  • AI-first tools for teachers and students

  • Assessments and credentialing need to adapt

  • Re-understanding the nature of facts and truth

The tectonic moves caused by AI and AGI will be the topic of our new Giraffe series of LIVE talks, “Seeking Digital Heights with AGI,” starting on 28-FEB-2023.

The series focuses on how digital technology can transform a traditional industry, and it will feature four talks by digital technology leaders:

  • Imad Telhami, Founder and Chairman of Babcom Centers
  • Tera Allas, Director of Research and Economics at McKinsey
  • Aya Soffer, Director of IBM Research Israel
  • Yariv Hasar, Chief Digital Officer and Tech General Manager at Pagaya

DigitalRosh LIVE, hosted by Jacob Eilon, is broadcast live on Tuesdays starting at 18:00. An open discussion is held following each lecture.

The SDG Compass – A Guide for Organizations

The SDGs Compass guide is designed to help businesses tackle the economic, social, and environmental challenges facing the world today.

The guide is built around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to eliminate poverty and create a sustainable future.

The Compass offers a graded management process that puts sustainability at the heart of a business strategy and is focused on large multinational enterprises. Small and medium enterprises and other organizations can also use it as a source of inspiration.

The guide is meant to be used at the entity level but can also be applied to products, sites, divisions, or regions as needed.

Can AI Achieve Its Potential in Healthcare?

Guy Melamed, an MD candidate at Tel Aviv University and head of the Integration Department of KSM – the Maccabi HMO Research and Innovation Center, wrote an article in the Journal of Israeli Medical Students about the potential use of big data and artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare.

He explains how big data and AI can be used in medicine through predictive analytics and machine learning. However, he acknowledges that there are challenges such as bias, lack of understanding, and privacy concerns that prevent medicine from fully benefiting from AI.

Despite these challenges, Guy believes that the advancement of technologies such as explainable AI and federated learning will help overcome them and that medicine’s conservativeness is necessary to keep immature technologies out of the clinic.

AI in Healthcare would be one of the subjects we will focus on in “The Future of Digital Medicine” – a new comprehensive course by DigitalRosh and the Technion, starting on 1-May-2023. It is a unique 10-week course that covers the latest developments in healthcare technology and data science. Led by Prof. Noam Shomron (Tel Aviv University), the course features guest lectures, peer learning, and discussions with leading Israeli digital medicine professionals.

This course is designed for healthcare and life sciences professionals seeking to gain practical knowledge and skills in data-driven medicine. Early bird pricing is valid until 28-Feb-2023. Special discounts and scholarships are available for DigitalRosh PRO members.
